October 31- November 4

We are closing (slowly) our discussion of topics in Macbeth. Your homework (for Wednesday and Thursday) is to do the following:

1. Reflect on our class discussion. You have a rubric to do this with. Please ignore the "Reading" section as we have not read the play at this point.
2.  Complete the diagnostic on colon and semicolon use (noredink).
3. Do a quick-write or find an example of witches from your childhood. We'll share some in class the next time we meet (Friday for gold period one and Tuesday for Gold period 4).

Period 4:

Purdue Online Writing Lab and formatting

Thursday (1B)

1. Students need to sign out Macbeth in the library.
2. Students need to read the first page of Macbeth and answer these questions in a google doc. Please share the google doc with me. :)
3. Students need to do another diagnostic on noredink (commonly confused words). This is online.

October 24-28

Your assignment is to write a piece about one of the seven deadly sins. There is no length requirement. It can be a poem, or written in prose (paragraphs); but it should be creative.

Your paper needs a name block and a title. It should be size 12 Times New Roman font. Please double space it.

Go to noredink and use your class code to access the diagnostic comma pre-assessment. Please complete the diagnostic assessment.

We're completing a Macbeth anticipation guide that focuses on things such as power, ambition, and gender. You need to write a piece based on one of these topics over the weekend.

October 24-28

We spoke briefly about the "seven deadly sins" when you returned from summer break. They are (in no particular order) as follows:

1. Pride
2. Envy
3. Wrath
4. Greed
5. Gluttony
6. Sloth
7. Lust

Your assignment is to write a piece about one of these. There is no length requirement. It can be a poem, or written in prose (paragraphs); but it should be creative.

The short story projects were wonderful. Remember that your book projects are due next week!

Vocabulary assessments are also next week (the 20th and 21st).

This week you are working on/presenting your short story projects. You all have rubrics. This is the SAME rubric that will be used for your independent reading book projects.

Vocabulary: We're postponing our second vocabulary round. I'll discuss this more next week.

Homework: Please read and work on your book projects. They are due on October 17th and 18th, so you have lots more time.
